One Day Cut Flower & Veg Growing Course - Thursday 24th April 2025
Thursday 24th April 2025
A one-day crash course in growing vegetables and flowers for cutting, in your own garden at home.
Spend the day with Matthew Rice and his gardener in his productive kitchen garden which is abundant with vegetables and herbs growing alongside cut flowers and surrounded by fruit trees. There is a large greenhouse which becomes full of flowers and veg through the season but starts off as a place to propagate, as well as a generous potting shed for sewing and preparing and a polytunnel with overwintering greens, peach trees and later tomatoes.
You will spend the day split between Matthew and his gardener, learning the basics of all the fundamentals of growing your own veg and flowers. Starting with preparing and sowing, pricking out and potting on, and planting out and looking after young plants outdoors. You will also cover planning and creating a plot, soil types, suitable vegetables, harvesting and deadheading.
There will be tea and cake during the mid-morning break, followed by a delicious lunch cooked by our in-house chef Dave Cross and served in The Dairy.
